FLOORING INSTALLATION

We offer installation services for a range of flooring types, from Solid Timber floors through to Parquetry and Laminate Floating floors.

The installation method for each type of flooring varies, and is also dependant on the type and condition of the subfloor.

Each project has varying time frames, dependant on extent of works required during Subfloor Preparation, Flooring Type, and Installation Method.

Dependant on the type/condition of the subfloor, additional works include:

• Levelling Concrete Subfloors, by use of self-levelling compound.
• Sealing Concrete Subfloors or Applying Damp-Proof Membrane, to minimise water/moisture absorbing into flooring
• Applying Sound Proof Membrane to timber subfloors.
• Deep Sanding of timber subfloors, to level and remove any material/adhesives/coatings that may inhibit good adhesion between subfloor and installed flooring.

We have extensive experience in installing a wide range of Parquetry patterns, from simple Herringbone and Basket Weave patterns to intricate Monticello and Versailles patterns. 

The elegance and sophistication Parquetry floors can also be enhanced by addition of borders and contrasting inlays of either natural timber or brass.

Care is to be taken to ensure timber floors have the appropriate humidity before installation, to minimise impact of shrinkage/swelling after installation..

Dependant on the style and size of your flooring, as well as the type of Subfloor; there are generally 3 main ways of installing timber floors.

1. Adhesive - by use of a specially formulated glue to simply stick down the timber floors to the subfloor.
2. Secret Nailing - With a "Tongue & Grove" system, and secret nail flooring gun is used to secure the timber floor to the subfloor. The nails are shot in the edge of each plank, offering a stunning floor without any visible nail heads or fixtures.
3. Lock System - Also known as "Click System", is a special style of flooring, by which two pieces connect together by a modified groove in each board. This system is designed for easy replacement of damaged boards (as no adhesive or fixing method is needed).
